Electro-funk duo Chromeo have regarded again on the transformative expertise of working with producer and mixing engineer Philippe Zdar of Cassius.
Talking in a new interview with MusicTech, members David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel share how the late Zdar – who labored on the pair’s second and third albums Fancy Footwork and Enterprise Informal – was instrumental within the growth of their sound.
“Fancy Footwork was after we discovered our sound,” Dave says, “and he had a giant position to play. With Philippe, we gave him actually uncooked tracks – they didn’t have a lot processing.
